At the request of those in the emergency services field, CRKT has modified some of our most successful designs for these rugged applications. Handles have scales of tough Zytel in high-visibility orange. CRKT has chosen tough blade steels to withstand abuse, and given them a polished finish to resist corrosion. Finally, CRKT has priced them to be as affordable as possible.

M16-13Z E.R. This mid-size M16 with spear point blade is a perennial favorite, with all the trademark Kit Carson features. The Carson Flipper allows instant one-hand opening, and also acts as a blade guard when open. The Combination Triple-Point Serrated edge speeds cutting through cord and vegetation. A stainless steel pocket/gear clip and the exclusive patented AutoLAWKS automatic safety are also standard.

It uses the very successful InterFrame construction, tough, textured Zytel scales over a 420J2 stainless steel liner InterFrame. CRKT overbuilds it for rigidity, using solid Zytel back spacers. They assemble the handle with superior offset Torx fasteners. The handle is exceptionally rigid and fills the hand perfectly.

CRKT uses tough AUS 4 high-carbon stainless steel for the blade to give it greater everyday utility.

The Carson Flipper is not only an aid to opening the blade, especially when wearing gloves, but acts as a blade guard when the blade is open. 

CRKT  also incorporated the patented AutoLAWKS automatic knife safety into this model, which converts the M16-13Z E.R into a virtual fixed blade when its blade is open and locked.

It has Teflon bearings and a removable Teflon-plated stainless steel clothing/gear clip.
